5-year warranty

Five years, no matter what happens. What that means, how it works, and why we can afford to offer it.

Our promise

Everything is covered. For five years.

An opal is not an everyday stone. It is softer than a diamond, its play of colour lives on fine structures, and in a triplet an adhesive bond holds stone and cap together. We know this because every opal passes through our hands before it is set.

So we keep it simple: if anything about your piece is no longer the way it should be within the first five years, we put it right. No small print and no question of whose fault it was.

The warranty belongs to the piece, not to the person who bought it. Whoever receives it as a gift has it just the same.

How an opal is made with us

What is covered

Everything we can take in hand

Six things that can happen to opal jewellery. We fix each of them free of charge.

Macro of an opal with fine drying cracks on the surface

The opal

The play of colour turns dull, a crack appears, the stone loosens or falls out. We reset it or fit a new one, as close to the old one as possible.

Opal triplet from the side: quartz cap, opal layer, dark base

Cap and bond

If the cap of a triplet comes away from the stone or the bond turns cloudy, we rebuild it. That is not a special case, it is exactly what the warranty is for.

Opal ring with a protective bezel next to an opal ring with prongs

The setting

Prongs bend, the stone no longer sits tight, the bezel gives. We set it again.

Opal necklace with a heart pendant on sandstone

Clasp and chain

Lobster clasp, spring ring, jump rings, chain links, earring posts. Whatever no longer holds or closes, we replace.

Dull, scratched opal next to a freshly polished opal with play of colour

The surface

Silver tarnishes, plating wears thin, scratches from wearing add up. We refinish the piece until it looks like it did on the first day.

Everything else

An earring stud that wobbles, a ring that opens, a defect we have never seen before. Covered. The only limit: if the piece is lost, we cannot repair it.
