The GSB certificate for opals
Gemmological Stone Quality Control Berlin - Your guarantee for authenticity, quality and maximum transparency
Every opal tells its own story – but unfortunately, many pieces of jewelry on the market aren't what they promise. Many sellers provide unclear information or even sell synthetic stones.
At Liberty Angels, you can be sure: every opal is genuine. The GSB certificate confirms authenticity, origin, and quality – so you're holding a certified original in your hands.
We confirm
Authenticity of the opal
Each opal is tested and documented by us (not a synthetic stone).
Type of opal
We determine the exact type of each opal.
Origin & Age
Our opals come from the most important deposits, especially Australia and Ethiopia.
Play of colors
The GSB certificate describes the color play of your opal – from nuances to the spectrum.
Aufbau des Opals
Wir erwähnen, wie Ihr echter Opal aufgebaut ist – ob als Vollopal, Dublette oder Triplette.
Verified forever - even digitally
Each GSB certificate is uniquely linked to your order. Using your name and order number, you can verify online at any time that your opal has been inspected and documented by Liberty Angels through our database.
- Authenticity can be verified at any time – even years later.
- This makes any potential resale or appraisal easier because the certificate can be verified online.
- Your piece of jewelry retains its authentic character and value because the guarantee of authenticity remains permanently available.
If your GSB certificate is lost, we can issue you a new one free of charge at any time, with no shipping costs (contact form) .
Our testing procedures at a glance
Microscopic analysis
We examine each opal under a microscope (10–40×). This allows us to detect inclusions, surface texture, and details invisible to the naked eye.
Light & UV testing
Under different lighting conditions and UV reactions, the unmistakable play of colors of a natural opal becomes apparent compared to a synthetic one.
Density / hydrostatic measurement
If necessary, we determine the stone's density using hydrostatic methods. This allows us to clearly distinguish natural opals from synthetic ones.
Refractometer test
We use the refractometer to measure the refractive index – a specialized value that allows conclusions to be drawn about the authenticity and material structure of the stone.
Das GSB-Zertifikat ist eine unternehmenseigene Qualitätsprüfung von Liberty Angels und wird nach gemmologischen Standards intern ausgestellt.
