The story of an opal begins with ancient rainwater seeping deep into the earth. In the hot deserts of Australia and Ethiopia, it unites with silica, heat and minerals.

65–100 million years ago
The age of the dinosaurs – creation beneath giants
While gigantic dinosaurs roamed the landscapes, the first opalizing layers formed deep beneath their feet. Many opals even preserve fossils from this era: petrified wood, shark teeth, bones – captured in shimmering light.
Every stone carries a chapter of earth’s history within it.
5–20 million years ago
The birth of color play – a universe within
Over time, tiny spheres of silica arrange themselves in perfect structure. When light passes through, it refracts millions of times – creating green flashes, red fires, deep blue nebulae. No pigment, no dye, just pure light.
The result is a play of color that exists only once in the entire universe.
Today
The revelation – the moment of discovery
After millions of years hidden in the ground, the opal is one day discovered. Adventurous miners recognize, in a barely visible line, the glow that rests within.

We work closely with local miners and Indigenous communities – responsibly, fairly and transparently.

HONG KONG – The transformation
From the plains of Australia, the journey continues into the pulsating energy of Hong Kong. In quiet workshops high above the city, master cutters transform each rough stone into a work of art. Sparks fly, dust hangs in the air, shapes emerge. Millimeter by millimeter.
This is where the opal begins to speak: with colors, patterns and a personality that is uniquely its own.

GERMANY – The completion
The final stage leads to Germany – to the place where precision and control are at home. Here everything is tested, weighed, measured and every detail is questioned. Not a single piece leaves Liberty Angels before it meets our highest standards. Only when everything is perfect does the journey end.
